Douglas Pell, an English arachaeologist, realises he has found something special when he is ordered to bring his discovery before Justin Hoffman, an agent working out of The Cylinder. Following their meeting, Douglas keeps his next discovery a secret.

 

When one February morning an uninvited visitor demands Douglas hand over this second discovery, events take an unexpected turn. DI Peter Darnley is soon on scene, trying to make sense of the evidence and trying even harder to stop Hoffman from wresting control of the investigation. Hoffman knows that the stakes could not be higher and insists that Pell's daughter Cressida accompany him to his secret facility for her own safety.

 

It soon becomes clear that things are not as they seem as Hoffman and Darnley race to solve the riddle of AOA to save Cressida and prevent a terrible power from being unleashed upon the world.....
